The Philosophy Department this week held its first annual Bioethics Symposium on New Topics in Bioethics. Students, faculty and experts from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai discussed topics including the moral and social dimensions of artificial intelligence in medical research, obesity and healthcare, mental health and more.

Twenty NCC civil engineering technology students, along with the club advisors Professor Kathleen Gallagher and Professor Nina Shah-Giannaris, are attending a three-day student symposium at Stony Brook University sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The students are presenting on how artificial intelligence can be used ethically in civil engineering. The best of luck to all!

Make sure to check out the exceptional creativity and talent of our students at the annual art student exhibition, currently on display at the Plaza Art Gallery until May 10th! The exhibit showcases a diverse collection of 67 artworks and animation, providing a glimpse into the wide range of offerings from the NCC Art Department.
All events at the Plaza Art Gallery are free and open to the public. The Gallery welcomes visitors Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Meet Bentley, the bilingual golden retriever with a heart of gold! The Collegiate Jam breaking competition was held at NCC this week. Among the judges was Kid Glyde, aka Victor Alicea III, an NCC alumnus, who said that everything he is doing now would not be possible if he did not find himself at NCC and participate on the Breakers team. The Breakers has been a club at NCC for 25 years. Kid Glyde has been in many national and international breaking competitions and will be on his way to Paris this summer as head of the Judges' Performance Evaluation Team for the breaking event! This is the first time that breaking will be a sport at the Summer Olympics.
